Polymer Clay Magic: January 21st 3-5:30PM

75.00

Discover the magically easy and fun process of modeling with polymer clay! With the guidance of artist Julia Sackett, we will mold clay to make our dreams come true.

In this class we will learn marbling and shaping techniques, as well as how to add detail and decoration with simple scraping tools. Everyone will focus on two clay projects that will be baked and finished in class. To warm up, we will all make a few polymer magnets to decorate your fridge! For our final project, choose from a clay pendant statement necklace or polymer bead wall hanging. We have lots of beautiful linen fabric scraps, thick cotton cord, rope, yarn, and twine to work into your projects. Let your creativity loose!

This 2.5 hour workshop includes all materials, snacks, beverages, and a 20% discount off of everything in our shop!

In order to better serve our community, Jenny Lemons has created a need-based scholarship program. Purchase a ticket for yourself and consider buying one for someone who may not be able to afford our workshops. Give the gift of creativity to others. To apply for a scholarship, please email us at info@jennylemons.com

Julia Sackett is an artist, a craftsperson, and an educator, and one half of Yes Crescent, a textile company that produces useful and beautiful accessories and objects for the home. She has been dying with natural dye for five years, and loves how transformative the process is. With Yes Crescent, Julia is always exploring new media and processes, including creating with polymer clay. Julia is a long time teacher, and is currently a museum education specialist for the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.  She has a BA from Hampshire college and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she focused on interdisciplinary printmaking. She loves watching people discover art-making though drawing and has been teaching drawing to brand new artists for many years.  Learning how to see is life-changing, and she is honored to be a part of the experience.
